What is Process-Oriented Clinical Supervision and Consultation?

Process-oriented supervision emphasizes the relational and experiential aspects of therapy. This approach encourages you to explore not just the techniques you use but also the emotions and dynamics that arise during client interactions.

Benefits of Clinical Supervision and Consultation

Engaging in supervision provides numerous benefits, including:

  • Skill Development: Enhance your therapeutic techniques and learn new methods to support your clients effectively.
  • Answers: Time to explore important questions related to counselling therapy competencies, including: regulation, billing, notes, transference, treatment plans, ethical dilemmas, countertransference and dual roles.
  • Increased Self-Awareness: Gain insights into your own responses and feelings in the therapeutic relationship, leading to more effective practice.
  • Supportive Environment: Work in a safe space where you can discuss challenges, receive feedback, and grow professionally.

“I do not fix problems. I fix my thinking.
Then problems fix themselves.”

Safe Harbour Counselling is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation, which comprises seven member communities: Okanagan Indian Band, Osoyoos Indian Band, Penticton Indian Band, Upper Nicola Band, Upper and Lower Similkameen Indian Bands, and Westbank First Nation, as well as the Colville Confederated Tribes in Northern Washington State. Sarah honours their deep connection to this land and pays her respects to their elders, past and present.

As a second-generation settler with ancestors from England and Ireland, Sarah recognizes that England was a colonial power that contributed to the foundation of Canada through the genocide of Indigenous peoples. Sarah is committed to continuously unlearning the colonial principles she has inherited. Sarah acknowledges her unearned privileges as a white settler, cisgender, heterosexual, non-disabled, neurotypical, financially stable, educated, and female individual.
